New Era of Smarter Food Safety Blueprint: What does it mean for the regulatory community? – This past July, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued its New Era of Smarter Food Safety Blueprint. This document outlined a 10-year strategy to create a more digital, traceable, and safer food system.
On Wednesday, October 14, 2020, at 10:00 AM Arizona-time (1:00 PM Eastern) the Association of Food and Drug Officials (AFDO) is hosting a webinar on this topic. AFDO is inviting stakeholders, including the University of Arizona’s Food Safety Consortium members and guests, to register for this one-hour event. The presentation will be made by FDA’s Deputy Commissioner for Food Safety and Response, Frank Yiannas. A question and answer period will follow the presentation.
FDA expects that State and local government staffs will be asked to participate in the implementation of this Blueprint strategy, as well as work with impacted stakeholders. Thus, this is an opportunity to get a preview of the effort and to learn more about how food policy will impact food safety and public health.
You must pre-register to attend. Click link for "FDA Blueprint" registration to provide your first name, last name, and email address. You will receive an approval of your pre-registration, along with guidance on how to submit any questions via email in advance of the webinar.
